Nature can really use your help so If you missed out last time we have another day scheduled Check out the info below.
PHRAGMITES REMOVAL PARTY Saturday September 12, 2020 @9:00am Rain date September 19th
Peer’s Wetlands 29644 Kimball Road, Wallaceburg
Catered lunch @12:00
A great way to help nature and learn how to properly remove and dispose of Phragmites (Phrag)4
We will need at least 20 people and 4 Small Boats or Canoes. Some of the work is physically demanding so we would need a few strong able bodies to help with the physical strength to maneuver the canoes through the water and on shore.
We will be working in teams On Shore and In the Water.
FOR THOSE IN THE WATER (with waders): You will be cutting the Phragmites below water line and loading it on boats/canoes. Special cutters will be provided. We will need for a few people to tow the boats through the water to and fro to be unloaded on the shoreline.
FOR THOSE ON SHORE: There will be those unloading, piling and seed head cutters. You should have footwear to keep your feet dry and please bring garden shears to cut off the seed heads.
Please bring gloves, hat and water for yourself. If you have extra waders or garden shears, please bring them in case someone needs them.
Any questions or to confirm your attendance feel free to message us.
*** Social Distancing protocols will be followed for the safety of everyone.
